Letters of Credit, on-chain
A LOC is the legal-escrow equivalent of a programmable smart contract. TrustBridge issues each one as a per-instrument USDC vault on Base, with conditional release rules encoded directly in the contract.
TrustBridge replaces attorney trust accounts, IOLTA pooled escrow, and title-company holdings with programmable Letters of Credit — smart-contract escrow that releases automatically when independent oracles verify every release condition.

Why TrustBridge
Every legal escrow has the same problem: funds sit idle until someone confirms conditions manually, parties wait, fees pile up. TrustBridge encodes the release conditions into a smart contract so the funds release themselves.
A LOC is the legal-escrow equivalent of a programmable smart contract. TrustBridge issues each one as a per-instrument USDC vault on Base, with conditional release rules encoded directly in the contract.
Funds disburse the moment release conditions are satisfied — DocuSign signatures, PACER court events, SEC EDGAR filings, county recorder entries, or time-anchored milestones. No more manual disbursement requests.
Designed around US attorney trust-account rules. Every state transition is captured in an append-only audit log, every wallet pass is OFAC-screened, every compliance step is timestamped and exportable for a bar audit.
Depositors and beneficiaries see live status from their own portal — what's funded, what's pending, what's released — without phone calls to the managing attorney. Every event is mirrored to a real-time activity feed.
Use cases
Four prebuilt LOC templates — real estate closing, settlement, M&A holdback, vendor milestone — each with the right release conditions wired in. Or start blank and compose your own.
Purchase price held until signed closing docs AND county-recorded deed.
Settlement funds held until dismissal of action is entered on the docket.
12-month holdback with regulatory-disclosure gate and time-anchored release.
Acceptance signature plus a 30-day review window before release.
How it works
Pick a template (real estate, settlement, M&A, vendor) or start blank. Add depositor, beneficiary, and any counterparties. Choose release conditions: signatures, court events, regulatory filings, recordings, or time anchors.
Compliance pipeline runs (OFAC, AML, bar verification, document integrity). On pass, an EscrowFactory deploys a per-LOC USDC vault on Base. The depositor funds it via Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask, or any EVM wallet.
Independent oracles continuously check each release condition. When the last one verifies, the contract releases USDC to the beneficiary minus the platform fee. The whole event chain is recorded in an immutable audit log.
FAQ
In TrustBridge, a Letter of Credit (LOC) is a programmable escrow instrument — funds held in a per-instrument USDC smart-contract vault on the Base blockchain, with release conditions defined by the managing attorney and verified by independent oracles. It's a digital, automated alternative to traditional attorney trust accounts and title-company escrow.
TrustBridge treats every legal escrow as a regulated instrument: an append-only audit log captures every state transition, OFAC/AML screening runs before activation and disbursement, role-based access separates attorneys from clients, and the underlying smart contract guarantees that funds release only on satisfied conditions. The full audit trail is exportable for state-bar review.
TrustBridge settles on Base, Coinbase's Ethereum Layer 2. Base has native USDC, sub-cent gas costs, and ~2 second block times, making it suitable for real-money escrow at consumer-facing latencies and fee profiles.
Signature (DocuSign), Court Event (PACER, CourtListener), Regulatory Filing (SEC EDGAR), Recording (county recorder index), and Time (absolute date or relative-to-event offset). Conditions can be combined with AND/OR/N-of-M composite logic.
Licensed attorneys (the managing attorney on each LOC), their clients (as depositors, beneficiaries, or counterparties), and compliance officers. Each role has scoped access via SSO (PocketID) for staff and magic-link email or passkey for invited parties.
